Instructor Bios

Alice Anderson
Classes: Advanced Drawing, Pastel Painting
Alice is originally from Chicago, where she earned her two-year certificate from the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. She loves to sing and has been known to belt out a little opera when she feels good! When Alice is not teaching, she enjoys creating pet portraits, singing, dancing, and socializing with friends. She is the oldest of 7 children and grew up teaching all her younger siblings, she is fortunate to still be very close to them.

Pamela Armenteno
Classes: Homeschool Art, Kids Clay, Watercolor, and Cooking
Pamela has been teaching for over 12 years; originally from Connecticut, she is a self-taught art teacher. When she is not teaching, she enjoys painting, gardening, and reading. A fun fact about Pamela is she used to raise Alpacas. She has been an artist since kindergarten and participated in different art leagues, she also sells her art locally. 

Mary Brown
Classes: Zumba, Aqua Zumba, Zumba Kids, Zumba Gold
Hello! I'm Mary Brown. I have two passions in life: dance and assisting others to achieve the wellness triad of optimal health, wholeness and restoration. Zumba Fitness® provides the perfect venue for the expression and utilization of these passions resulting in enhanced lives! Coupled with a background that includes formal dance training, professional medical training and experience as a Registered Nurse, completion of a Pre-med degree, twenty year history of swimming with the U.S. Masters Swimming Program, and cheerleading, I am excited, motivated, equipped and trained to assist my students in achieving their fitness goals! I am currently licensed to teach the following classes: Basic Zumba Fitness® Aqua Zumba® STRONG by Zumba ™ Zumba Kids® Zumba Gold® Zumba Toning® AND the brand spankin’ NEW Zumbini™ Program designed for babies to toddlers ages 0-4!! Zumba Fitness® transforms lives from within! So, come and “Zumba Down with Mary Brown!” as we dance our way to greater fitness!!” I absolutely love teaching Zumba classes. The reason is simple: Every class feels like a party! Come join me, I guarantee you will have a blast!

Vicky Clough
Classes: Beginner Line Dancing
Vicky is originally from Cincinnati and has over 20 years' experience line dancing where she has taught the last six of those. She met her husband Mike while dancing, and now he attends and assists in her class. In her free time, she enjoys walking on the beach, exercising, ballroom dancing and country couples' dance.

Carol Crumrine
Classes: Oil Painting
Carol has been teaching for over eight years. Originally from Minnesota, she moved to Florida with her husband in 1980 and has two children. She has taken art classes at St. Petersburg Junior College, Art workshops in oil, and more. She enjoys being a member of many local museums, where she can sit and draw the art she sees or the furnishings on display. She enjoys painting outdoors and reading biographies. Woodfield Fine Art Gallery in St. Pete presently holds her gallery.

Anna Horbert
Classes: Gentle yoga
Anna is a world citizen; she has lived in several countries in Europe and many US states. She is a certified yoga instructor, a member of Florida Yoga Teachers Association and on the board of directors. She has been teaching for over 15 years, where she strives to frame her yoga class around issues of balance and strength. In her spare time, she enjoys watching international movies, biking and learning foreign languages. 

Patricia Lester 
Classes: Afternoon & Evening Pottery, Acrylic Painting, and Pastels
Patricia has been teaching in largo for eight years and a total of 40 years in this career. She has a bachelor's in fine arts with a minor in education and was a high school art teacher for 10 years. Originally from Virginia, she loves animals, especially dogs, and horses, and they are often subjects of her work. When Patricia is not teaching art, you can find her practicing her photography and traveling to new places to learn about people and history. Patricia’s philosophy of teaching is everyone has artistic talent. “My job, as an instructor, is to help each find their way to success and have fun while doing it!”

Holly Noelle Schaefer
Classes: Tai Chi Chih
Holly has lived all over from California to Germany and is now happy to make Florida her final home. She has practiced Tai Chi Chih for over 20 years and has her certification. She is also a certified mindfulness meditation teacher. When she has down time, she enjoys creating Mandalas. Holly is a fun teacher and hopes to see you in class in the future!

Steven Trischka
Classes: Tai Chi
Steven has been teaching at Highland Recreation Complex for 9 years and has practiced Tai Chi since 1990. He has also practiced Shaolin Kung-Fu, Tank-Shaolin disciple for 36 years. Originally from St. Petersburg, Florida he plays acoustic guitar and conga drums. Steven is the only known teacher of the Yin system of Tai Chi in the United States. His teacher was a shaolin priest and presented his papers to the shaolin temple in Henan, China. Steven is his only student whom he taught the bear form. 

Joan Waff
Classes: ACBL Duplicate Bridge
PlayLargo.com CircleJoan has taught for over 35 years and is a certified ACBL Bridge Director. Originally from Virginia, she loves sailing and taught painting in Universal Classes for years. Her hobbies are coloring and painting. She loves playing bridge and helping others enjoy the game. Anyone that plays bridge can play ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) duplicate bridge. It is worldwide and can win masterpoints. The game is friendly and fun! 



Wendall Walker
Classes: Adult Tennis Lessons
Wendall is an USPTA Elite Professional who has been instructing tennis for 12 years, nine of those at the Southwest Largo Tennis Center. He is a generic southerner, who graduated high school in New Orleans and spent 24 years in the Air Force. As a race relations instructor in the Air Force, he conducted approximately 500 seminars for about 10,000 people!! He is now retired and loves to play tennis all the time.

Lynn Winters-Hicks
Classes: Yoga & Forever Fit
With an impressive background of certifications, Lynn is ready to help you live a balanced, healthy lifestyle. From personal training to fitness and yoga, she will create a training environment that not only motivates but also empowers you to continually challenge yourself in a fun and rewarding way.  With 25 years of related experience, Lynn has taught workshops on Posture and Alignment, Adaptive Yoga, Advanced Yoga, Glow-in-the-Dark Yoga, and Charity Events such as Yoga In The Park to benefit The Mary Kay Foundation for breast cancer research and battered and abused women. She teaches a variety of fitness formats, such as Yoga, Children’s Yoga (KAY), Pilates, Beach Yoga, Aerobics, Step, Interval, Aura, Small Group Training, Private Instruction, and Personal Training.
