MEET THE ANIMALS

Inside our Nature Center, we have a number of animals from turtles to birds of prey.  All of our Birds of Prey are permanently inured and can not be released back into the wild.

Birds of Prey

Lucy and Ricky
Eastern Screech Owls
Lucy and Ricky have been at our park since 2014. Both Lucy and Ricky are Imprints. They were taken out of their nest when they were only a few days old by someone who wanted to keep them as pets until they were reported to Florida Fish and Wildlife and confiscated. Because they were taken out of their nest so young, they do not know they are owls and would not know how to survive or fed themselves in the wild.
Sarge
American Bald Eagle
Sarge is our Female Bald Eagle and has been at the park since 2016. Sarge suffers from a unique feather disorder that prevents her from flying. She was found in 2014 at the age of three badly malnourished. She was sent to the World Bird Sanctuary in Missouri where she was diagnosed. Her feather disorder causes her feathers to grow twisted and are very brittle, breaking just from her moving around in her enclosure.
Eleanor
Great Horned Owl
Eleanor is one of our Female Great Horned Owls who has been at the park since 2011. Eleanor was found on a golf course with a puncture would to her eye most likely from a fight with another Great Horned Owl. Her other eye has developed cataracts and she currently only has around 10% vision.
Franklin
Great Horned Owl
Franklin is one of Great Horned Owls and has been at the park since 2011. Franklin was found injured with a severally broken wing most likely caused by being hit by a car. The wing was so badly broken that steel rods and pins had to inserted to keep the wing stable.
Matilda
Barred Owl
Matilda is our Female Barred Owl who has been at the park since 2012. She was found in the wild as an adult with a broken wing most likely due to being hit by a car. The wing was broken so severely that she now has what is called a wing droop and can not hold her wing level.
Eugene
Barred Owl
Eugene is our Male Barred Owl who has been at the park since 2014. Eugene was found in the wild as an adult with an injury to his eye possibly from a fight with another owl or from a branch hitting him in the eye. The damage was too severe to save the eye so it had to be removed.
Shay
Red Shoulder Hawk
Shay is one of our Female Red Shoulder Hawks who has been at the park since 2012. She was found injured as an adult in the wild she was most likely hit by a car and suffered serious damage to her right wing that required a partial amputation of the wing.
G
Red Shoulder Hawk
G has been at the park since 2015. He was found in the wild as an adult with an injury to his right eye possibly from a fight with another bird or from hitting a tree branch while hunting. The eye was too severely injured to heal and was removed during rehab.
Rogue
Red Tail Hawk
Rogue has been at the park since 2017. She was found as an adult with a broken wing that did not heal properly in the wild. She is unable to hunt effectively and catch her own food and is now a permanent resident at our park.
Slasher and Slayer
American Kestrels
Both Slasher and Slayer have been at our park since 2016. Slasher is our Female Kestrel she was found to be imprinted when she was taken in for rehab, thinking that a human was her parent. Slayer is our Male Kestrel he is thought to be a victim of a car strike that caused damage to his left eye and left wing.
