Lifeguard Certification
(Ages 15 & Up)
Certified Trainers will teach you the necessary lifeguarding techniques using American Red Cross materials. Class will include certifications in Lifeguard Training and First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED Essentials, and Preventing Disease Transmission. Students must attend all classes, complete all online work and pass written and practical exams to receive certification. Students will be provided with CPR masks. Must have a valid Recreation membership to register. Registration is non refundable as space is limited and participants cannot switch class dates.

Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification
(Ages 15 & Up)
Acquire the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies in shallow water and to provide care until emergency medical services arrive. Must complete online work before the first day of class. Must past a pre-requisite test before registration. For more information, please contact Andrea Moreira

Water Safety Instructor

(Ages 16 & Up)
Certified trainers will instruct students in various methods of teaching all levels of swimming using American Red Cross techniques. The class includes a two-year certification. A minimum of six students required. To receive certification students must attend all classes, pass a written exam, meet Level 4 Red Cross swim ability on front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly plus turn in all required work. Must have a Largo Recreation card.

Cost: $225 per participant plus $35 online registration fee to American Red Cross

Junior Lifeguard Certification
(Ages 11-14)
Acquire the knowledge and skills to become a lifeguard assistant and complete volunteer hours. The course introduces participants to life-saving skills, in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, first aid, CPR and AED. Must past a skills test at the start of the class.
