Join us on the third Friday of each month for evening Chair Volleyball! Get a great workout and have a good laugh playing volleyball while seated in a chair. Uses a lower net and a beach ball. All levels welcome.
Learn from a professional! In this orientation, you will spend an hour and a half with Lynn Winters-Hicks, one of our resident Personal Trainer/ Fitness Instructors and learn how to properly use the machines and equipment in the fitness room setting. You will learn to set the machines up to fit your physique, discuss important topics related to weight training, muscle balance, posture and alignment, and health and fitness, learn how to determine your maximum and target heart rate, as well as proper protocols for using the fitness room. Hula Hoop Fitness is a fun, creative, and structured class where you can burn 400+ calories an hour while having a blast! Hooping increases core strength, balance, coordination, and overall flexibility through exercise using adult-size hula hoops. Hoops will be provided! Even if you haven’t ever used a hula hoop or haven’t hooped in many years, you CAN be successful in class and you’ll find the classes to be focused on fun and fitness in a non-stressful environment!

SilverSneaker Cardio is perfect for participants who are fit and active, as well as those who want an energizing activity. Move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and range of movement. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for support.
Step aerobics is a high-energy cardiovascular exercise that involves using a small, elevated platform to perform various rhythmic and choreographed movements. Participants step up and down on the platform, engaging multiple muscle groups while following upbeat music and coordinated routines. It's a dynamic workout that enhances cardiovascular fitness, stamina, and overall coordination, making it a fun and effective way to stay active.

T’ai Chi Chih is a mindfulness-moving meditation. The set of 19 movements and one pose is soft, flowing, and easy to learn. Benefits may include peace of mind, improved health, and simply, joy.

Teens will be granted access to the fitness center without a parent/guardian presence upon completion. Teens will learn proper form, technique, the importance of body awareness and safety. Participants will leave with a developed workout to get them started on their own. Regular fitness center fees apply upon completion. This course is currently only offered at Highland Recreation Complex.
This method has been shown to reduce neck, shoulder, back and hip pain and improve flexibility, increase core strength and improve overall well being. Appropriate for all ages including older individuals and all levels of physical health.

Balance and peacefulness result from attention to breath as the class moves through physical “asana” yoga practice. The basic postures serve as the foundation for each class sequence. Modifications are suggested as needed. Some yoga experience is helpful, although not required. Open to everyone with the ability to move through seated, standing, kneeling, and reclined positions unassisted.
Get ready to move through a variety of seated and standing yoga poses. This class is a great way for all ages to get the health benefits of yoga with support. Benefits include improved flexibility, range of motion, strength, balance, mental clarity, and reduced stress.

Zumba® Kids classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba® choreography. The instructor will break down the dance steps, add games, activities, and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. Zumba® Toning uses lightweight maraca-like toning sticks to enhance your sense of rhythm and coordination while toning target zones, including arms, core, and lower body.
